This book depicts and analyzes systematically Chinese family and its transition after Chinese economic reforming and opening-up since 1980s. The contents of this book include family structure, demographic structure, relations between generations, marital relations and quality of life. It focuses on the whole family cycle and almost covers all of the important family issues of the related disciplines, such as sociology, demography and child education.
This book makes use of the large volume of database that established by the chief editor’s team over 30 years, including the surveys on family structure, family function, family values, spouse choosing of young people, quality of marriage, father research, single parent family and family pressure. In addition, it uses various data of national surveys and representative sample surveys, including China General Social Survey( 2006), China Social Survey (2011), Survey of Women’s Status in China （1990、2000、2010）, and Survey of Transition of Family Values (2008).
